How it measures
The researcher reads 16 words with 1 second between each word. The participant is asked to recall as many words as they can in any order (also known as free recall) every time the researcher finished reading the 16-word list. This part of the CVLT is repeated five times. The test continues with several variations of list reading and recall instructions to test different aspects of the participants memory and learning abilities [1].
