Flanker Task

Eriksen Flanker Task

What it measures

Flanker Task measures selective attention and reaction time

Outcome measures

Overall Accuracy

An increase in score on this outcome should be interpreted as an improvement. Higher scores are better.

No-Go Accuracy

An increase in score on this outcome should be interpreted as an improvement. Higher scores are better.

Overall Response Time of Correct Responses

A decrease in score on this outcome should be interpreted as an improvement.

Arrows Errors (%)

A decrease in score on this outcome should be interpreted as an improvement.

Arrows Reaction Time

A decrease in score on this outcome should be interpreted as an improvement.

How it measures

One or more irrelevant stimuli appear together with one relevant stimuli on a screen. After this the participant is asked to respond as quickly as possible what the stimuli in a specific position was. Which stimuli is relevant is determined before the test and the participant knows which position to look in before all stimuli appear for the entire task. [1] Arrows have been used as the stimuli for flanker tests [2] [3]
